This past week was full of highs : The Boyfriend Bet released on Monday.
And lows: I woke up Monday morning to a dead Keurig. Thankfully I keep a french press on hand for caffeine related emergencies.
After work, I went to a grocery store that gives a percent off of gasoline at their pumps with proof of purchase from the store/their receipt. It took twice as long to shop since I wasn’t familiar with the store. When I went to pump gas, I couldn’t find the receipt. I searched for five minutes, found it, and then I couldn’t make the percent off work. I have no idea what I did wrong, but I felt like an idiot and I didn’t save any money.
I drove home and hit the handy dandy remote control which magically raises the garage door. The door didn’t move. I hit the button several more times and cursed at in an encouraging manner, but the door just sat there mocking me. I tried lifting the door manually, but it wouldn’t budge. At that point I began to wonder if the Keurig and the garage door opener were involved in a scheme to drive me crazy.
As Zoe’s grandmother says in They Boyfriend Bet, “Bad things come in threes.” So I waited for number three to hit. After unloading the groceries, I went to grab my cell to text my husband but it wasn’t in my purse. And that’s when I realized I left it on my desk at work. Cell phones seem to be the adult equivalent of security blankets because even though I have a house phone and a laptop, not having my cell phone made me feel twitchy.
Despite the death of my Keurig, the gas station receipt issue, and the temporary lack of a cell phone, this was a great week. I’d like to thank everyone who took the time to check out The Boyfriend Bet. If you read it and enjoy it, please consider leaving a star rating on Amazon or a review.
