Doggy Drama won out over an author interview this week. Pete the shitzu developed double ear infections yesterday. How did we figure this out? When I came home from work yesterday, he tried to crawl up my leg. This is not normal shitzu behavior.

We went to the vet and he gave us pain meds and ear drops. The pain meds aren’t a problem. Cover anything in peanut butter and Pete will suck it down. Try to put ear drops in his ears and he morphs into a Tasmanian devil, whirling and snapping his teeth.

You’d think two grown people could hold onto a shitzu and administer 6 drops per ear twice a day. You would be wrong. We’ve started using the sneak attack. One person rubs his tummy while the other person sneaks in like a ninja and squirts ear drops. But Pete is smart, he’s beginning to suspect our motives when we rub his tummy. Tomorrow should be interesting.
