I’m off to Las Vegas for a conference with my publisher. Most writers are introverts, meaning we are comfortable with smaller groups and quieter surroundings. Las Vegas is huge and loud and full of people so I may require a glass of wine while I’m there to deal with all the commotion, but I am looking forward to talking in person to people I normally only speak to online.
So, if you’re in Las Vegas and you see a short, midwestern looking woman (think jeans, a t-shirt, and flat/comfortable shoes) hanging out on the fringes of a group, perhaps muttering about dragons, that’s probably me. I’m going to do my best to be social and act like I know what I’m doing. I figure most of the other people there will be slightly awkward, bookish people too so it should be fine.
Who knows? Maybe I’ll run amok and get a tattoo or stay up past midnight and eat a giant slice of cake. I’m sure you can guess which is more likely to happen.
