I used to have a live and let live policy when it came to almost all creatures except mosquitoes. If spiders or crickets entered my home, I would scoop them up with a magazine and toss them back outside. Those days are over.
Yesterday, I was sitting on my couch, minding my own business when a spider dropped from the ceiling, landing behind my glasses, which I was wearing at the time. It bumped into my eye, rolled down my cheek, hit my chest and then disappeared. As you can imagine, this resulted in the mother of all freak outs. I flailed around, running my hands through my hair to make sure there were no creepy crawlers taking up residence on my head. Once bug-free hair was established, I ripped off my clothes, shaking them vigorously to remove any critters that might be lurking inside. After turning them inside-out and outside-in several times, I deemed them safe to put back on. Then, I washed my face…twice.
Sad to say, this isn’t the first time a spider landed on my face for no good reason. Bugs seem to like me. The feeling is not mutual. What’s your bug-freak out story?
