It’s a beautiful day in Southern Illinois. It’s about seventy degrees. The sun is shining. I’m sitting on my back deck in fur-covered yoga pants and a brightly patterned shirt that I purchased at Kohls for $4.00 from the clearance rack (because that is how I roll). My three dogs are also enjoying the sunshine.
It’s amazing how wonderful a little heat and glow can make you feel. I don’t know how people live in areas where it rains all the time or in Alaska where the sun disappears for months.
Glancing around my back yard, I love how the leaves are sprouting on the trees and the hostas are poking their heads up through the gravel. Hostas seem to be one of the few plants capable of surviving a three-dog yard. I’ve given up on growing anything else. While my back yard will never win a lawn and garden contest, it makes me happy. I plan to sit out here and sip coffee while I work on book 4 in the Going Down In Flames series. What is your go-to outside happy place?
